Nicholas G. Kaltsas has been a practicing attorney for over 20 years in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Approximately 10 years ago, he fell ill with a long-term illness and became a recipient of Medicaid benefits. Although significantly recovered, the experiences he endured dealing with his illness and MassHealth make him uniquely qualified to offer counsel in this area.

Elder & Disability Law Advocates is a law firm committed to serving the needs of older and disabled individuals, their caregivers, and their families. “The Senior Focus” is WTAG’s most recent radio program and it focuses exclusively on those issues. Topics covered during the show include Estate and Medicaid Planning, Long-Term Care Planning, Guardianship and Conservatorship, Medicare and Medicaid Advocacy, Planning for People with Disabilities, Estate Administration, services that are available to the elderly and the disabled, and much more.

Elder & Disability Law Advocates prides itself in providing high quality legal counsel and is happy to have the opportunity to sponsor The Senior Focus as a platform through which it can share its knowledge with the listeners and further provide information to the Central Massachusetts population.

Elder & Disability Law Advocates (EDLA) provides legal services to clients of all ages, with a focus on the needs of older and disabled individuals and their families. We routinely handle elder care issues, such as MassHealth benefit applications and Medicaid advocacy; planning issues, such as Medicaid planning, estate planning and planning for incapacity (e.g. wills, durable powers of attorney and health care proxies); Veterans Benefits and petitions for guardianships and/or conservatorships. We also manage end-of-life matters, such as estate and trust administration issues (e.g., wills and trusts) and other probate litigation matters.

Based in Worcester, Massachusetts, EDLA was founded by Attorney Nicholas G. Kaltsas, a licensed attorney who has been practicing for more than 20 years. During his many years of practicing law, he has gained experience in a wide variety of different practice areas. In 1998, he developed a long-term illness that required him to deal with Medicaid (“MassHealth” in Massachusetts) on a personal level. It was during this experience that he developed a sensitivity to the multiple stresses associated with having to deal with the MassHealth program.
His firsthand experiences in dealing with the complexities of the American legal and health care systems make him uniquely qualified to lend counsel in this area. These experiences have fostered in him a strong interest in “elder law,” including the regulations that determine eligibility for public benefits.

EDLA provides the following services:

  • Comprehensive Estate and Medical Planning Evaluations
  • Estate Planning
  • Long-Term Care Planning
  • Guardianship and Conservatorship Services
  • Medicare and Medicaid Advocacy
  • Planning for People with Disabilities
  • Planning for Parents of Children with Disabilities
  • Estate Administration
  • Personal Injury Settlement Advice
  • Veterans Benefits

The focus of the firm on the estate planning and public benefits needs of individuals and families enables the firm to be particularly sensitive to the multiple stresses that these individuals and families confront on a daily basis.

Elder & Disability Law Advocates helps its clients navigate this system by providing answers where they are hard to find and identifying solutions to a clients’ particular needs and goals.
