Approximately 10 years ago, he fell ill with a long-term illness and became a recipient of Medicaid benefits. Based in Worcester, Massachusetts, EDLA was founded by Attorney Nicholas G. Kaltsas, a licensed attorney who has been practicing for more than 20 years. During his many years of practicing law, he has gained experience in a wide variety of different practice areas. In 1998, he developed a long-term illness that required him to deal with Medicaid (“MassHealth” in Massachusetts) on a personal level. It was during this experience that he developed a sensitivity to the multiple stresses associated with having to deal with the MassHealth program.
His firsthand experiences in dealing with the complexities of the American legal and health care systems make him uniquely qualified to lend counsel in this area. These experiences have fostered in him a strong interest in “elder law,” including the regulations that determine eligibility for public benefits.
